انطلق فيلم الموصل للنجم وليد القاضي بدايةً من يوم 26 نوفمبر على منصة نتفلكس، ويعتبر أول فيلم ناطق باللغة العربية من إنتاج شركة Russo Brothers التي انتجت Marvel Avengers ومن تأليف وإخراج ماثيو مايكل كارناهان مؤلف أعمال World War Z و 21 Bridges.وتصدير قائمة الأكثر مشاهدة في مصر بمجرد عرضه.
ويتطرّق الفيلم للحرب العراقية، حيث يرصد فرقة شرطة عراقية تقاتل من أجل تحرير العاصمة من قوات داعش. تم عرض الفيلم لأول مرة في مهرجان مدينة البندقية ومهرجان تورنتو السينمائي الدولي في العام الماضي، والتي أشادت به العديد من النقاد والمواقع مثل ScreenDaily و Hollywood Reporter، وكتبت عنه موقع IndieWire “فيلم الموصل هو عمل قوي ومكثّف، غير شخصي وموضوعي حول الحروب ضد داعش، فالفيلم هو عبارة عن حالة من تمزيق الأعصاب، وسرد الكوابيس، فأذناك لن تكف عن الصفير طوال أحداثه”. وجريدة Chicago Sun Times
وصفته بأنه “من أفضل أفلام 2020”
وقد درس وليد القاضي التمثيل في المملكة المتحدة بعد ولادته بالخرطوم، بدأ مسيرته بالأفلام القصيرة ثم الوثائقية والمسلسلات، حتى قدّم فيلم Brothers بالتعاون مع المخرجة سوزان بير الحاصلة على جائزة أوسكار، كما تألق نجمه في شخصيه ابو عباسي في الفيلم التليفزيوني Dirty War والذي تم عرضه على قناة BBC/HBO ، برز نجمه عام 2010 بعد تقديمه شخصية خالد في فيلم Four Lions من إخراج كريس موريس .جاءت له أدوار أكبر في مسلسلات لتليفزيون في Tyrant
لصالح أستوديوهات FOX و Tutankhamun للمخرج بيتر ويبر. كما تعاون مع النجم العالمي توم هانكس في فيلم A Hologram for the King
ويشهد وليد حاليًا حالة من النشاط الفني، حيث قدّم في 2020 مسلسل Young Wallander، كما الفيلم التليفزيوني Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar كما ينتظر إطلاق فيلمه The Curse of Hobbes House في 2021 .أنهى وليد مؤخرًا تصوير فيلم 355 والذي يقدم من خلاله شخصية ياسين جنبًا إلى جنب مع طاقم من النجوم من بينهم جيسيكا شاستين وديان كروجر وبينيلوبي كروز ولوبيتا نيونغو.
Feature film Mosul starring Waleed Elgadi on Netflix from November 26
Mosul, starring Waleed Elgadi is released November 26 on Netflix. It is the first Arabic language feature film to be produced by the Russo Brothers, (Marvel Avengers) and is written and directed by Matthew Michael Carnahan (World War Z, 21 Bridges).
The film deals with the Iraq war, as it monitors an Iraqi SWAT team fighting to liberate the capital from ISIS forces. It premiered at the Venice and Toronto International Film Festivals last year, where it was praised by critics and sites such as ScreenDaily and The Hollywood Reporter. IndieWire said: ‘Mosul is essentially a nerve-shredding, nightmare-inducing, your-ears-will-never-stop-ringing action movie” and The Chicago Sun Times has called it “one of the best films of 2020”
Waleed Elgadi was born in Khartoum and studied in the United Kingdom. He began his career in short films, documentaries and TV, and his first feature was the movie ‘Brothers’ directed by Oscar-winning Susan Bier. His breakout role was as Abu Abbasi in the television movie Dirty War, for BBC / HBO. He further rose to prominence in 2010 after playing the character of Khalid in the movie ‘Four Lions’ directed by Chris Morris. Bigger roles came in TV in ‘Tyrant’ for Fox, and ’Tutankhamun’ directed by Peter Webber. He also starred alongside international star Tom Hanks in ‘A Hologram for the King’.
Waleed is currently having an episode of continued artistic momentum after featuring in 2020 in the series ‘Young Wallander’, as well as the television film ‘Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar’. His film ‘The Curse of Hobbes House’ is due for release in 2021. Waleed also recently completed filming on the movie 355, where he plays the character Yassin alongside a starry cast including Jessica Chastain, Diane Kruger, Penelope Cruz and Lupita Nyong’o.
